A leap into the unknown: the Prague Spring reflected in the international press

Fifty years ago in Czechoslovakia, Alexander Dubček dared to create "socialism with a human face". In August 1968 this dream, which became known as the Prague Spring, ended with the invasion of Prague by Warsaw Pact troops. The event was also widely reported on in international newspapers. The online dossier "A leap into the unknown" deals with the reception of the "Prague Spring” as reflected in the international press. It was prepared by the year–14 cohort of students of the Elite Graduate Program for East European Studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and the University of Regensburg.
