Interlibrary loan and document delivery services

All media acquired at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek as part of the Specialised Information Service for East, Central and Southeast European Studies Studies are available throughout Germany to the general public. Making the acquired media available nation-wide is a core task of the DFG-funded Specialised Information Service for Science and is made possible by the national interlibrary loan and the document delivery service subito, which is subject to a fee.

Every year, the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek sends around 13,000 monographs and as many essays from or about Eastern, Central and Southeastern Europe to the national interlibrary loan service. Articles from licensed electronic journals and individual e-books are also available via interlibrary loan. The electronic interlibrary loan service will be further expanded in the future.

Interlibrary loan

Users who need a book from the holdings of the Specialised Information Service for East, Central and Southeast European Studies at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek but do not live in Munich should contact their local library. An interlibrary loan order can be placed from there.

The responsible home library is usually the nearest university or state library. It is often also possible to order interlibrary loans via city libraries or municipal libraries.

Users can obtain information about conditions and any costs resulting from an interlibrary loan order at their local library.

Unfortunately, no binding information can be given in advance regarding the supra-regional provision of a particular data medium.

For renewal requests for interlibrary loans from the Bavarian State Library's holdings, as well as for all other special cases, please contact your home library.

subito document delivery service

Copies of essays from a journal or book as well as books for loan can be ordered via subito and delivered to the user’s address.
